Privacy Policy — ARMA

Last updated: 2026-10-18

ARMA is made by Magmanet. This policy explains what the app does with your information.

The short version: we (Magmanet) don't receive any of your data, apart from anonymous usage statistics, which you can turn off. There are no accounts, no advertising and no tracking. Your projects stay on your device. When you look up a site, the address or block/parcel you typed and the site's coordinates are sent directly from your device to the public open-data services listed below, only to fetch the results you asked for.

ARMA is not a government app and does not represent the Israel Planning Administration or any government body. It reads public open data published by the services listed below.

What leaves your device, and where it goes

When you search for a site or open its map, the app contacts these public services directly from your device:

These are searched sites, not your own location: the app has no location permission and never reads where your device is. Like any internet request, each service can see your device's IP address and handles requests under its own policy (OpenStreetMap Foundation: https://osmfoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy; Israeli government services: https://www.gov.il/he/departments/general/privacy_policy). Magmanet does not receive, see or store these requests.

If you choose to connect your own ARMA server in Settings, site lookups and your projects are sent to that server instead, under your organisation's terms.

Separately, for the update check: once a day the app checks for a newer version by asking the Magmanet server (EU, Contabo) — the request contains only the app name, its version number and how it was installed (site/Google Play); the server counts checks per app and version in aggregate, stores no identifiers and no IP address; if the server is unavailable the app downloads the public version file from GitHub Pages instead (GitHub may see your IP address). If a newer version exists, the app shows a notice and you choose whether to open the download link. You can turn this off in Settings ("Check for updates automatically").

Anonymous usage statistics

ARMA sends anonymous usage statistics over HTTPS (a short ping once a day; usage events a few times a day at most, batched) to Magmanet's own server, hosted in the EU (Contabo), not to Google or any other third party. It sends the app name and version, your Android version, your phone's manufacturer and model (such as Samsung SM-S911B; never the name you gave the phone), your language, how the app was installed (from Google Play, the website or elsewhere), a random install ID, and anonymous usage events (which screens and features are used and for how long). The random ID is made by the app when it is installed; it is not a device identifier. No personal content is sent (no sites, addresses, projects or notes).

On the server the ID is hashed and no IP address is stored. Raw data is deleted after 400 days. It is used only to count active users and improve the app, never for advertising or profiling, and it is never sold or shared.

This is on by default. You can turn it off in Settings ("Share anonymous usage statistics"). Turning it off stops sending immediately and deletes the random ID and any unsent usage events from your phone.

What we collect

Only the anonymous usage statistics described above, which you can turn off. Magmanet receives no personal data and no crash reports. We never sell or share your data.

Where your data is stored

Everything you enter is saved only on your device, in the app's private storage. It is removed when you uninstall the app. You can clear your search history in Settings.

The app's Copy backup feature (Settings → Your data) copies your data as text to your clipboard, so you can keep it somewhere you choose. Where you paste it is up to you; the app never uploads it.

Permissions

Your projects

The sites, assumptions, notes and reports you create are stored only on your device unless you connect your own ARMA server in Settings; then they are synchronized with that server under your organisation's terms. An API key you enter is kept on the device (and in backups you copy). Sample sites use fictional numbers. ARMA's estimates are for early screening only and are not professional planning, appraisal or legal advice.

Children

ARMA is a professional tool and is not directed at children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and publish the new version at the same address.
