Baby Name Match (שם לתינוק) is made by Magmanet. It helps you choose a baby name, alone or with your partner. The short version: used alone, nothing you choose leaves your phone. In partner mode, the Magmanet server holds only the ids of the names each of you liked, and shows each of you only the names you both liked. All of it can be deleted at any time.

Used alone

Your choices (liked, super-liked and passed names), your notes, your shortlist and your filters are stored in the app's private storage on your phone. Nothing about them is sent anywhere.

Partner mode: what is on the server

• The pair: a random id, an invite code and when it was issued, and when the pair was last opened.
• Each phone in it (at most two): an anonymous account id and when it joined.
• Each liked name: the name's id from the app's built-in list (for example noa-f), whether it was a super-like, and when. Nothing else is sent with it.

The server shows each partner only the names both of you liked (with how many of the two likes were super-likes). It never shows a partner a name only the other one liked, nor how many names the other one liked. Passed names, notes, the shortlist and its order never leave your phone.

The account is anonymous: the server creates a random user id and access tokens, stored on your phone. The app also stores a random number made at install time, used only to create that account. There is no name, email, phone number or password.

What the app never collects

Your name or your partner's, the baby's due date, location, contacts, photos, health data, payments and advertising identifiers.

When it is deleted

• Leave the pair: your likes are erased from the server at once; the matches disappear for both of you.
• Delete the pair (either partner): everything in it is erased at once, for both.
• Erase all data (Settings), or DELETE /v1/profile: your phone leaves the pair as above, your anonymous account and tokens are deleted, and your choices, notes and shortlist are deleted from the phone.
• Automatically, every night: a pair nobody has opened for 180 days.
• An invite code stops working after 30 days or once your partner has joined, and a new one can be made at any time before that.

Server backups, if any are kept, age out on the server's normal backup rotation.

Anonymous usage statistics

To improve the app it sends anonymous statistics: a random install ID, which screens and features are used and for how long, counts (for example how many swipes), the app and Android version, phone model, language, and daily counts of error types. Never which names you liked, your notes or your invite code. You can turn this off in Settings.

On your phone

allowBackup is off, so your choices stay out of device backups. "Copy backup" in Settings copies what's stored as text to your clipboard, including the partner-mode tokens: keep it to yourself. Sharing an invite or the shortlist uses your phone's share sheet: you choose the app and the recipient.

Who else sees it

Your partner sees only the names you both liked. Nobody else sees anything. The data isn't sold or shared with any third party and isn't used for advertising. The server writes no access log for this app's requests, and these tables aren't copied to the test server.

Where the names come from

The name list and every meaning in it were written for the app. The app uses no popularity data. See LICENSE-DATA.md in the app's source.

Children

The app isn't directed at children.
