Privacy Policy — Brain Race (מרוץ מוחות)

Last updated: 2026-10-19

Brain Race is made by Magmanet. This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: your data stays on your device.

What we collect

We don't collect anything. Brain Race has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and it collects no usage statistics. We never see, sell or share your data.

Where your data is stored

The players you add (a name or nickname, an animal and an age), their level, stars and game statistics, and the app settings are saved only on your device, in the app's private storage. They are removed when you uninstall the app.

The Copy backup feature in the grown-ups area copies this data as text to your clipboard, so you can keep it somewhere you choose. Where you paste it is up to you; the app never uploads it.

Playing together on nearby phones

When you open "Play nearby", the phones in the same room connect directly to each other over the local Wi-Fi network (or, only if you turn on "Also use Bluetooth", over a direct Bluetooth / Wi-Fi link using Google Nearby Connections on Android). One phone hosts the game and the others join it.

What is exchanged between the phones in the game: the player's display name and animal, the game settings, and the answers and scores of the game. Nothing else, and nothing goes to us or to any server. There is no chat. A game can only be found by phones on the same local network or within Bluetooth range.

Internet use

Apart from local play, Brain Race works entirely offline. The only time it goes online is the update check. Once a day the app checks for a newer version by asking the Magmanet server (EU, Contabo) — the request contains only the app name, its version number and how it was installed (site/Google Play); the server counts checks per app and version in aggregate, stores no identifiers and no IP address; if the server is unavailable the app downloads the public version file from GitHub Pages instead (GitHub may see your IP address). The check carries no identifiers and nothing about your child or your device. If a newer version exists, the app shows a notice, and a grown-up must answer a question before the download link opens. You can turn this off in the grown-ups area ("Check for updates automatically").

Permissions

The app requests no camera, microphone, contacts or storage access.

Children

Brain Race is designed for children. It contains no ads, no in-app purchases, no links out of the app (except the update download link, which is behind a parental gate), no chat and no public leaderboards, and it collects no personal information from anyone, including children. The only information a child enters is a display name, which stays on the device and is shown only to the other phones in the same local game. Settings, levels and the update link are in a grown-ups area behind a parental gate.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and publish the new version at the same address.
