Chain Story (סיפור בשרשרת) is made by Magmanet. This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: your stories stay on your device.
We don't collect anything. Chain Story has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and it collects no usage statistics. We never see, sell or share your data.
The stories your family writes and draws, the players' names and emoji, and the settings are saved only on your device, in the app's private storage. They are removed when you uninstall the app.
The app's Copy backup feature (grown-ups' settings → Your data) copies your data as text to your clipboard, so you can keep it somewhere you choose. Where you paste it is up to you; the app never uploads it.
A grown-up can share a story as a picture or a PDF. This is behind a parental gate. The file is made on the device and handed to your phone's share sheet; you choose where it goes. The app itself sends it nowhere.
When you choose Play nearby, phones in the same room connect to each other directly over your Wi‑Fi network (or over Bluetooth, only if a grown-up turns on "Also use Bluetooth"). The phones exchange the name and emoji each child picks, whose turn it is, and the story itself: the host phone sends only the previous part to the next player, and the whole story to every phone at the end, where it is saved. This happens only between the phones playing together. Nothing goes through the internet, to us or to any server, and there is no chat.
Chain Story works entirely offline. The only time it goes online is the update check. Once a day the app checks for a newer version by asking the Magmanet server (EU, Contabo) — the request contains only the app name, its version number and how it was installed (site/Google Play); the server counts checks per app and version in aggregate, stores no identifiers and no IP address; if the server is unavailable the app downloads the public version file from GitHub Pages instead (GitHub may see your IP address). The check carries no identifiers and nothing about your child or your device. If a newer version exists, the app shows a notice, and the download link is behind a parental gate. You can turn this off in the grown-ups' settings ("Check for updates automatically").
The app requests no camera, microphone, contacts or storage access.
Chain Story is designed for children and families. It contains no ads, no in-app purchases, no accounts, no chat and no links out of the app (except the update download link, which is behind a parental gate), and it collects no personal information from anyone, including children. Sharing a story, deleting a story and the settings are behind a parental gate. Play nearby only connects phones that are together in the same place.
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and publish the new version at the same address.
