Change Scanner compares ways to buy foreign currency. Your amounts, quotes and places stay on your phone.
What the app stores, and where
- Your quotes (place names, rates, commissions, fees, dates) and your choices (currencies, destination, amount,
edited assumptions, rates you typed) are stored only in the app's private storage on your phone.
- Rates downloaded by the app are saved on the phone so that it works offline.
What leaves the phone
- Reference rates. The app downloads the European Central Bank's public rates file directly from ecb.europa.eu. The
request contains no data about you, though the ECB's servers see your IP address, as with any download.
- Published rates, from our server. To show rates that public sources publish, the app asks Magmanet's server (EU,
Contabo) for a currency pair. The request holds the two currency codes and a token for an anonymous account: a random
ID made by the app, with no name, email or phone number. If you turn on an extra source in Settings, the request also
names that source. The server doesn't keep which pairs or sources you asked for, and its web
server writes no access log for these requests. It's our server that contacts the rate sources, never your phone, so
they don't learn about you. Your amounts and quotes are never sent.
- Extra sources. Settings has one switch per source whose site restricts automated access in its terms or robots
rules. They are off by default, and the choice is stored on your phone. While a switch is off, our server doesn't
contact that site on your behalf.
- Anonymous usage statistics (which features are used, counts of error types, with a random install ID) go to our
server. They never include amounts, currencies, quotes or place names. You can turn them off in Settings.
- The update check. On Android, the app asks once a day whether a newer version exists. iPhone and iPad builds don't
do this. On Android, the statistics also include the phone's maker and model; on iPhone and iPad they don't.
- Source links. If you tap a source page, it opens in your browser, under that site's own policies.
- Sharing and backup. Sharing a result sends text only to the app and person you choose. "Copy backup" copies your
data to the clipboard; where you paste it is up to you.
Scanning a rate board
The camera is used only when you tap "Take a photo", and the gallery only when you tap "Choose a photo". The text is read
on your phone by Google ML Kit's on-device recogniser. The photo isn't uploaded and the temporary copy is deleted once
read. You can use the whole app without this feature.
Google's ML Kit does send Google its own diagnostic data when the recogniser is used: device information (maker, model,
OS), the app's name and version, a per-install identifier, performance metrics, and technical details of the request such
as image format and size. Google says it uses these for diagnostics and usage analytics and doesn't share them with third
parties. We don't receive this data. See https://developers.google.com/ml-kit/android-data-disclosure
Deleting your data
"Delete all data" in Settings deletes everything on the phone and asks our server to delete the anonymous account.
Uninstalling deletes everything on the phone; an unused anonymous account holds nothing but its random ID.
Children
The app is not directed at children.

- סטטיסטיקת שימוש אנונימית (באילו תכונות משתמשים, ספירת סוגי שגיאות, מזהה התקנה אקראי) נשלחת לשרת שלנו, בלי סכומים, מטבעות, הצעות או שמות מקומות. אפשר לכבות בהגדרות.
- בדיקת עדכון: באנדרואיד האפליקציה בודקת פעם ביום אם יש גרסה חדשה, ובסטטיסטיקה נכללים גם יצרן הטלפון והדגם. באייפון ובאייפד אין בדיקת עדכון ולא נשלח דגם.
- קישורים למקור: לחיצה על עמוד מקור פותחת אותו בדפדפן, לפי המדיניות של אותו אתר.
- שיתוף וגיבוי: שיתוף תוצאה נשלח רק לאפליקציה ולאדם שבחרתם. גיבוי מועתק ללוח ואתם מחליטים איפה לשמור.
- צילום לוח שערים: המצלמה פועלת רק כשלוחצים "צילום", והגלריה רק כשלוחצים "בחירת תמונה". הטקסט נקרא בטלפון באמצעות Google ML Kit. התמונה לא מועלית, והעותק הזמני נמחק. אפשר להשתמש בכל האפליקציה בלי התכונה הזו.
