Family Board Games is made by Magmanet. This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: your data stays on your devices.
We don't collect anything. Family Board Games has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and it collects no usage statistics. We never see, sell or share your data.
Settings, the house rules you chose, the players' names and animals for "play on this phone", a small win count, and an unfinished game (so you can continue it) are saved only on the device, in the app's private storage. They are removed when you uninstall the app.
The Copy backup feature (grown-ups area → Your data) copies this data as text to your clipboard, so you can keep it somewhere you choose. The app never uploads it.
When you play with phones nearby, the phones talk to each other directly over your local Wi-Fi network (or, only if a grown-up turns it on, over Bluetooth / Wi-Fi Direct). They exchange each player's display name and emoji avatar, and the game itself (the die rolls and the moves). This goes only to the other phones in the same game; nothing is sent to us or to any server, and nothing is kept after the game. There is no chat.
The game itself never needs the internet. The only time the app goes online is the update check. Once a day the app asks the Magmanet server (EU, Contabo) whether a newer version exists. The request contains only the app name, its version number and how it was installed (site/Google Play). The server counts checks per app and version in aggregate and stores no identifiers and no IP address. If the server is unavailable, the app downloads the public version file from GitHub Pages instead (GitHub may see your IP address). If a newer version exists, the app shows a notice; the download link opens only after a grown-ups question. You can turn the check off in the grown-ups area.
Family Board Games is designed for children and families. It contains no ads, no in-app purchases, no chat and no links out of the app (except the update download link, which is behind a grown-ups question), and it collects no personal information from anyone, including children. Settings are behind a grown-ups question.
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and publish the new version at the same address.
