Family Trivia is made by Magmanet. This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: your data stays on your device.
We don't collect anything. Family Trivia has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and it collects no usage statistics. We never see, sell or share your data.
The players you add (a first name or nickname, an emoji and an age group), your settings and the family questions parents write are saved only on your device, in the app's private storage. They are removed when you uninstall the app.
The app's Copy backup feature (Settings → Your data, behind the parent gate) copies this data as text to your clipboard, so you can keep it somewhere you choose. Where you paste it is up to you; the app never uploads it.
"Everyone on their own phone" connects phones directly over your local Wi-Fi (or a phone's hotspot); there is no server and no internet connection involved. During a game the phones in the room exchange only what the game needs: each player's nickname, emoji, age group, answers and scores, and the host's game settings, including the family questions the host chose to play. Nothing is sent outside your local network, and nothing is kept after the game. Bluetooth play is off by default; if "Also use Bluetooth" is switched on, Android asks for the Bluetooth/nearby-devices permission, used only to connect the phones in the room.
Apart from the local game above, the only time Family Trivia goes online is the update check. Once a day the app checks for a newer version by asking the Magmanet server (EU, Contabo) — the request contains only the app name, its version number and how it was installed (site/Google Play); the server counts checks per app and version in aggregate, stores no identifiers and no IP address; if the server is unavailable the app downloads the public version file from GitHub Pages instead (GitHub may see your IP address). The check carries no identifiers and nothing about your child or your device. If a newer version exists, the app shows a notice, and the download link opens only after a parent passes the parent gate. You can turn this off in Settings ("Check for updates automatically").
The app requests no camera, microphone, contacts, photos or storage access, and it never uses location to locate anyone.
Family Trivia is designed for families and children. It contains no ads, no in-app purchases, no links out of the app (except the update download link, which is behind a parent gate), no sharing, no public leaderboards and no chat, and it collects no personal information from anyone, including children. Settings and the family questions editor are behind a parent gate.
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and publish the new version at the same address.
