Privacy Policy — חמישייה! (High Five Dice)

Last updated: 2026-10-20

חמישייה! (High Five Dice) is made by Magmanet. This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: your data stays on your device and on the phones you play with; the app only sends anonymous usage statistics, which you can turn off.

What we collect

High Five Dice has no accounts, no advertising and no tracking. The only thing we collect is anonymous usage statistics (see below), which you can turn off. We never see your games, your scores, your high-score list or the names you play under, and we never sell or share data.

Where your data is stored

Your settings (language, sounds, shake to roll, rule options), your high-score list and statistics, the names you typed for pass-and-play, and an unfinished game are saved only on your device, in the app's private storage, and removed when you uninstall the app.

The app's Copy backup feature (Settings → Your data) copies this data as text to your clipboard, so you can keep it somewhere you choose. The app never uploads it.

Shake to roll

If "Shake to roll" is on, the app reads the phone's motion sensor (accelerometer) only while the game screen is waiting for you to roll, to notice a shake. The readings are used on the spot and never stored or sent anywhere. No permission is needed for this, and you can switch it off in Settings.

Playing with friends nearby

When you play nearby, the phones in the room talk to each other directly over your local Wi-Fi network or, if you turn on "Also use Bluetooth", a direct Bluetooth / Wi-Fi Direct link (Google Nearby Connections on Android). Your chosen display name and emoji, your dice and your scorecard are shared with the other phones in the game. To make the dice verifiable, each phone also sends a random number (a "salt") that is mixed into the dice; it contains no information about you. Nothing goes to us or to any server.

Location: Android requires location permission for Bluetooth discovery on some versions. The app asks for it only if you turn on "Also use Bluetooth", and it never reads, stores or sends your location.

Internet use

High Five Dice needs no internet to play. It goes online only to send anonymous usage statistics (see below) and to check for updates. Once a day the app checks for a newer version by asking the Magmanet server (EU, Contabo) — the request contains only the app name, its version number and how it was installed (site/Google Play); the server counts checks per app and version in aggregate, stores no identifiers and no IP address; if the server is unavailable the app downloads the public version file from GitHub Pages instead (GitHub may see your IP address). If a newer version exists, the app shows a notice and you choose whether to open the download link. You can turn this off in Settings ("Check for updates automatically").

Anonymous usage statistics

High Five Dice sends anonymous usage statistics over HTTPS (a short ping once a day; usage events a few times a day at most, batched) to Magmanet's own server, hosted in the EU (Contabo), not to Google or any other third party. It sends the app name and version, your Android version, your phone's manufacturer and model (such as Samsung SM-S911B; never the name you gave the phone), your language, how the app was installed (from Google Play, the website or elsewhere), a random install ID, and anonymous usage events (which screens and features are used and for how long, and coarse game events such as "solo game finished" with its score). The random ID is made by the app when it is installed; it is not a device identifier. No names, scorecards or other personal content is sent.

On the server the ID is hashed and no IP address is stored. Raw data is deleted after 400 days. It is used only to count active users and improve the app, never for advertising or profiling, and it is never sold or shared.

This is on by default. You can turn it off in Settings ("Share anonymous usage statistics"). Turning it off stops sending immediately and deletes the random ID and any unsent usage events from your phone.

Children

High Five Dice is a general-audience family game. It does not ask for any personal information and does not knowingly collect personal information from children; the anonymous usage statistics described above contain none and can be turned off.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and publish the new version at the same address.
