Flatshare is made by Magmanet. In short: your flat, flatmates, rent, bills and chores stay on your device. There is no app server, and the app never moves money. The app also sends anonymous usage statistics, which you can turn off.
By default, only anonymous usage statistics (see below). Flatshare has no sign-up, no accounts, no advertising and no tracking. We never sell or share your data.
The flat's name, flatmates' names, emoji and move-in/move-out dates, rooms (names, sizes, extras), the rent and how it is split (including flatmates' monthly incomes if you use "split by income"), monthly bills and whether they are paid, recorded payments between flatmates, recurring bills, chores and your settings are saved only on your device, in the app's private storage. Incomes are never sent anywhere and are not included in summaries or CSV exports. "Delete all data" in Settings, or uninstalling the app, removes them.
When you tap "Share summary", the app builds a text with the month's rent, bills, each person's share and the transfers to settle, and hands it to your phone's share sheet (for example WhatsApp), to the people you choose. Magmanet never receives it. Export table (CSV) builds a spreadsheet file with a month's (or every month's) shares, bills and balances and hands it to the share sheet in the same way; the file is written only to the app's temporary cache to be shared. The Copy backup feature copies your data as text to your clipboard; where you paste it is up to you.
Flatshare does not transfer money, does not connect to banks, Bit, PayBox or any payment service, and never asks for financial details. It only calculates amounts; you pay each other yourselves.
Flatshare sends anonymous usage statistics over HTTPS (a short daily ping, plus batched usage events) to Magmanet's own server in the EU (Contabo). They include the app name and version, Android version, phone manufacturer and model, language, how the app was installed, a random install ID, and which screens and features are used (for example "bill added" or "summary shared", with counts such as the number of bills). They never include names, amounts, rooms, dates or anything you type. The ID is hashed on the server, no IP address is stored, and raw data is deleted after 400 days. The data is never used for ads and never sold or shared.
It's on by default. You can turn it off in Settings ("Share anonymous usage statistics"); doing so stops sending and deletes the random ID and any unsent events.
No location, camera, microphone, contacts, notifications or storage permissions are requested.
Flatshare is not directed at children under 13.
