Group Gift is made by Magmanet. In short: your birthday book and group gifts stay on your device. The app also sends anonymous usage statistics, which you can turn off.
By default, only anonymous usage statistics (see below). Group Gift has no sign-up, no accounts, no advertising and no tracking. We never sell or share your data.
The birthday book (names, birth dates, relationship, notes), your group gifts (titles, who they are for, the occasion and its date, gift ideas and links, amounts, participants' names, who has paid, how much and how, your notes, the organizer's name, phone and payment link) and your settings are saved only on your device, in the app's private storage. Uninstalling the app removes them. The app does not read your contacts; you type in every name and date yourself.
You choose when to share something: a group message, a reminder to those who haven't paid, a thank-you summary or a card text (you can edit each one first, in Hebrew, English or French). These go through WhatsApp or your phone's share sheet to the chats and people you pick. Magmanet never receives them. The Copy backup feature copies your data as text to your clipboard; where you paste it is up to you.
Group Gift never moves money and never asks for card or account details. Ticking "paid" is a note you make for yourself. The Bit and PayBox buttons copy an amount to your clipboard and open your own app (or its Google Play page if it isn't installed); nothing is sent to those apps by Group Gift. Your own payment link and gift links are opened in your browser or the matching app only when you tap them. The amount and payment method you note for each person are a record for yourself and never leave the device.
If you save a birthday with a reminder, the app schedules a local notification on your phone. Android asks for the notification permission at that moment, never at launch. Reminders are created and shown entirely on the device.
Group Gift sends anonymous usage statistics over HTTPS (a short daily ping, plus batched usage events) to Magmanet's own server in the EU (Contabo). They include the app name and version, Android version, phone manufacturer and model, language, how the app was installed, a random install ID, and which screens and features are used (for example "birthday added" or "message shared"). They never include names, dates, amounts, phone numbers or anything you type. The ID is hashed on the server, no IP address is stored, and raw data is deleted after 400 days. The data is never used for ads and never sold or shared.
It's on by default. You can turn it off in Settings ("Share anonymous usage statistics"); doing so stops sending and deletes the random ID and any unsent events.
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED, so scheduled reminders survive a restart). No location, camera, microphone, contacts or storage permissions are requested.
Group Gift is not directed at children.
