Higher or Lower Israel is made by Magmanet. In short: your scores stay on your device, unless you choose to join the online leaderboard. The app also sends anonymous usage statistics, which you can turn off.
By default, only anonymous usage statistics (see below). The game has no sign-up, no advertising and no tracking. We never sell or share your data. The other exception is the optional online leaderboard (below): if, and only if, you join it, the nickname, city and daily results you choose to publish are sent to the Magmanet leaderboard server.
Your best streaks and stats, daily-challenge results and times, chosen categories and settings are saved only on your device, in the app's private storage. Uninstalling the app removes them. The facts used by the game are built into the app.
When you tap "Share", the app builds a short text (your score, coloured squares, for the daily challenge your time and day streak, and a link to the game – no answers) and opens your phone's share sheet; it is also copied to the clipboard. It goes only where you choose. Magmanet never receives it. The Copy backup feature copies your data as text to your clipboard; where you paste it is up to you.
The daily challenge has a public leaderboard (in your city, your region, Israel and the world; today and this week). The first time you open it, the app asks whether you want to take part. If you choose "Not now", nothing is ever sent to the leaderboard.
If you join:
Higher or Lower Israel sends anonymous usage statistics over HTTPS (a short daily ping, plus batched usage events) to Magmanet's own server in the EU (Contabo). They include the app name and version, Android version, phone manufacturer and model, language, how the app was installed, a random install ID, and which screens and features are used (for example "daily challenge finished" with its score, or the length of an endless streak). The ID is hashed on the server, no IP address is stored, and raw data is deleted after 400 days. The data is never used for ads and never sold or shared.
It's on by default. You can turn it off in Settings ("Share anonymous usage statistics"); doing so stops sending and deletes the random ID and any unsent events.
No location, camera, microphone, contacts, notifications or storage permissions are requested.
Higher or Lower Israel is not directed at children under 13.
