Phone Band is made by Magmanet. This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: your data stays on your devices.
We don't collect anything. Phone Band has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and it collects no usage statistics. We never see, sell or share your data.
Settings (language, sounds, last song, instrument and level) and personal bests are saved only on the device, in the app's private storage. They are removed when you uninstall the app.
The Copy backup feature (grown-ups area → Your data) copies this data as text to your clipboard, so you can keep it somewhere you choose. The app never uploads it.
All instrument sounds are created by the app on the device. The app never uses the microphone and never records anything. While the shaker is on screen, the app reads the phone's motion sensor to notice a shake; these readings are used instantly on the device and are never stored or sent.
In "Band on several phones", the phones talk to each other directly over your local Wi-Fi network or a phone's hotspot (or, only if a grown-up turns it on, over Bluetooth / Wi-Fi Direct). They exchange each player's display name and emoji avatar, the chosen song and instruments, a shared clock signal, the taps played in free jam (for the loop recorder) and the scores. This goes only to the other phones in the same game; nothing is sent to us or to any server, and nothing is kept after the game.
Playing never needs the internet. The only time the app goes online is the update check. Once a day the app asks the Magmanet server (EU, Contabo) whether a newer version exists. The request contains only the app name, its version number and how it was installed (site/Google Play). The server counts checks per app and version in aggregate and stores no identifiers and no IP address. If the server is unavailable, the app downloads the public version file from GitHub Pages instead (GitHub may see your IP address). If a newer version exists, the app shows a notice; the download link opens only after a grown-ups question. You can turn the check off in the grown-ups area.
The "Tell a friend" button in the grown-ups area opens your phone's share sheet with a short text and the app's store link; you choose where (if anywhere) to send it.
Phone Band is designed for children and families. It contains no ads, no in-app purchases, no chat and no links out of the app except the share button and the update download link, both behind a grown-ups question, and it collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and publish the new version at the same address.
