Phone Cleanup finds duplicates, blurry and very dark photos, screenshots and large videos in your photo library,
and helps you remove the ones you choose. It works entirely on your phone.
What the app reads, and where it stays
- Your photos and videos. After you start a scan and allow access, the app reads thumbnails and file sizes, and
reads the files of possible exact copies to compare them. All of this happens on your phone. Nothing is uploaded, to
us or anyone else.
- What it keeps. To continue a stopped scan and to avoid repeating work, the app keeps, in its private storage: the
system's id for each item, its dimensions, dates, size, whether it's a favorite or a screenshot, and numbers computed
from it (fingerprints, a very coarse colour grid, sharpness, brightness). These can't be turned back into your photo.
The system's image loader may also keep small thumbnails in the app's cache folder. This data is excluded from
Android backups.
- What it doesn't read or keep. File names and folder names aren't stored (on Android the folder is checked once
to tell whether an item is a screenshot, and only the yes or no is kept). The app doesn't ask for or read photo
locations.
- Settings and your running total (language, how much you've cleared) are stored on your phone.
The app has no account and no server for your photos.
Deleting photos
Nothing is deleted without your confirmation.
- On Android 11 and later, items you confirm go to your phone's trash, through the system's own dialog.
- On iPhone, items you confirm go to Recently Deleted, through the system's own prompt.
- On Android 10 and older there is no trash, so deletion is permanent. The app says so and asks for a stronger
confirmation.
- Deleted items may remain in cloud backups, or may be removed there too, depending on the service and its settings.
The app doesn't connect to these services.
What leaves the phone
- Anonymous usage statistics: a closed list of feature names (such as "scan started"), counts of error types and a
random install ID. They never include photos, file names, sizes or counts of what was found. You can turn them off in
Settings.
- The daily update check asks our website whether a newer version exists.
- Backup. "Copy backup" in Settings copies your settings as text to the clipboard. It contains no photos.
Deleting your data
"Forget the scan" in Settings deletes the app's stored measurements. Your photos aren't touched. Uninstalling the app
deletes everything it stored.
Children
The app is not directed at children.

- מה לא נשמר. שמות קבצים ותיקיות לא נשמרים (באנדרואיד התיקייה נבדקת פעם אחת כדי לדעת אם זה צילום מסך, ונשמרת רק התשובה כן או לא).
האפליקציה לא מבקשת ולא קוראת מיקום של תמונות.
- מחיקה. שום דבר לא נמחק בלי אישור שלכם. באנדרואיד 11 ומעלה הפריטים עוברים לאשפה של הטלפון דרך חלון המערכת, ובאייפון ל"נמחקו
לאחרונה" דרך חלון המערכת. באנדרואיד 10 ומטה אין אשפה והמחיקה סופית: האפליקציה אומרת זאת ומבקשת אישור חזק יותר. פריטים שנמחקו עלולים
להישאר בגיבוי בענן, או להימחק גם משם, לפי השירות וההגדרות שלו. האפליקציה לא מתחברת לשירותים האלה.
- מה יוצא מהטלפון: סטטיסטיקת שימוש אנונימית (רשימה סגורה של שמות פעולות, ספירת סוגי שגיאות ומזהה התקנה אקראי; אף פעם לא תמונות, שמות
קבצים, גדלים או כמויות; אפשר לכבות בהגדרות); בדיקת עדכון יומית; גיבוי הגדרות, רק אם תעתיקו אותו ללוח, בלי תמונות.
- מחיקת הנתונים: "מחיקת זיכרון הסריקה" בהגדרות מוחקת את המדידות השמורות, והתמונות לא נפגעות. הסרת האפליקציה מוחקת כל מה שהיא שמרה.
