Color by Number is made by Magmanet. This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: your data stays on your device. The app also sends anonymous usage statistics, which you can turn off.
By default, only anonymous usage statistics (see below), which you can turn off. Color by Number has no sign-up, no accounts, no advertising and no tracking. We never sell or share your data.
Your paintings (which cells you have painted in each picture), finished pictures, daily pictures and streaks, hints and bucket fills, the small pixel pictures made from your photos and your settings (language, theme, sounds) are saved only on your device, in the app's private storage. They are removed when you uninstall the app, or when you use Settings → Reset progress.
The app's Copy backup feature (Settings → Your data) copies your data as text to your clipboard, so you can keep it somewhere you choose. Where you paste it is up to you; the app never uploads it.
When you choose "My photo", the app opens your phone's photo picker and you pick one photo. The app converts it on your device into a small pixel picture (for example 32×32 squares with up to 24 colours). The photo itself is never uploaded, never sent anywhere and never saved by the app; only the small pixel picture (a list of colours and squares) is kept on your device so you can paint it. You can delete it from "My works" at any time. Photos are never part of the usage statistics.
When you tap "Share", the app makes a PNG image of your picture on your phone and opens your phone's share sheet with it and a short text with a link to the app's page. Nothing is sent unless you choose an app and send it yourself.
The app, including the daily picture and photo conversion, works entirely offline. The only internet requests are the update check and the anonymous usage statistics below.
Once a day the app checks for a newer version by asking the Magmanet server (EU, Contabo) — the request contains only the app name, its version number and how it was installed (site/Google Play); the server counts checks per app and version in aggregate, stores no identifiers and no IP address; if the server is unavailable the app downloads the public version file from GitHub Pages instead (GitHub may see your IP address). If a newer version exists, the app shows a notice and you choose whether to open the download link. You can turn this off in Settings ("Check for updates automatically").
Color by Number sends anonymous usage statistics over HTTPS (a short ping once a day; usage events a few times a day at most, batched) to Magmanet's own server, hosted in the EU (Contabo), not to Google or any other third party. It sends the app name and version, your Android version, your phone manufacturer and model (never the name you gave the phone), your language, how the app was installed (from Google Play, the website or elsewhere), a random install ID, and anonymous usage events (which screens and features are used and for how long, and numbers such as the size of a finished picture). The random ID is made by the app when it is installed; it is not a device identifier. No personal content is sent: never your photos, your pictures or anything you type.
On the server the ID is hashed and no IP address is stored. Raw data is deleted after 400 days. It is used only to count active users and improve the app, never for advertising or profiling, and it is never sold or shared.
This is on by default. You can turn it off in Settings ("Share anonymous usage statistics"). Turning it off stops sending immediately and deletes the random ID and any unsent usage events from your phone.
Internet: for the update check and the anonymous usage statistics described above.
Photos: the system photo picker lets you choose one photo at a time; the app gets only the photo you pick and asks for no storage or gallery permission on Android (on iOS, the photo library usage description is shown).
The app requests no location, camera, microphone or contacts permissions.
Color by Number is a general-audience colouring app. It collects no personal information from anyone.
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and publish the new version at the same address.
