Privacy Policy — El HaMaayan Yoga Studio

Last updated: 2026-10-31

El HaMaayan Yoga Studio is made by Magmanet. This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: by default your data stays on your device; the app only sends anonymous usage statistics, which you can turn off. If you choose to connect the app to a studio with a code ("cloud mode"), the studio's data is stored on the Magmanet server as described below.

What we collect

El HaMaayan Yoga Studio has no advertising and no tracking. Used on this phone only (the default), it has no account and the only thing we collect is anonymous usage statistics (see below), which you can turn off. In cloud mode the studio's data is stored on our server so the studio's devices and its students can use it (see "Cloud mode"). We never sell or share your data.

Where your data is stored

Everything you enter is saved only on your device, in the app's private storage. It is removed when you uninstall the app.

The app's Copy backup feature (Settings → Your data) copies your data as text to your clipboard, so you can keep it somewhere you choose. Where you paste it is up to you; the app never uploads it.

Cloud mode (optional)

Cloud mode is off unless you enter a code. There are two kinds of code:

Joining creates an anonymous account on the server for this install (a random ID; no name, email or password). The server keeps the studio's records, which devices joined (an anonymous account ID, its role, a device label such as "Android" or "Web", and when it joined and was last seen) and one-time invites (stored only as a hash, expiring after 14 days). The data is used only to run the studio's app; it is never used for advertising, never sold and never shared with third parties.

Deleting cloud data: a device leaves the studio with "Disconnect from the studio" (Settings → Studio cloud, or the student's Studio tab). Ticking "Also delete my account on the server" deletes this install's anonymous account and its membership too. An admin who disconnects keeps a local copy on the phone; the studio's records stay on the server for the studio's other admin devices. To have a studio's data deleted from the server entirely, contact us (below). Studios with no device seen for 18 months are deleted automatically, and expired invites are removed nightly.

Internet use

Used on this phone only, El HaMaayan Yoga Studio works entirely offline. It goes online only for cloud mode (if you connect to a studio), to send anonymous usage statistics (see below) and, on Android, to check for updates. On iPhone and iPad there is no update check: the App Store handles updates. On Android, once a day the app checks for a newer version by asking the Magmanet server (EU, Contabo) — the request contains only the app name, its version number and how it was installed (site/Google Play); the server counts checks per app and version in aggregate, stores no identifiers and no IP address; if the server is unavailable the app downloads the public version file from GitHub Pages instead (GitHub may see your IP address). If a newer version exists, the app shows a notice and you choose whether to open the download link. You can turn this off in Settings ("Check for updates automatically").

Anonymous usage statistics

El HaMaayan Yoga Studio sends anonymous usage statistics over HTTPS (a short ping once a day; usage events a few times a day at most, batched) to Magmanet's own server, hosted in the EU (Contabo), not to Google or any other third party. It sends the app name and version, your operating-system version (Android or iOS), your language, how the app was installed (on Android: from Google Play, the website or elsewhere; on iPhone and iPad: the App Store or TestFlight), a random install ID, anonymous usage events (which screens and features are used and for how long) and counts of errors by type (a short code for the kind of error, never a message or any content). On Android it also sends your phone's manufacturer and model (such as Samsung SM-S911B; never the name you gave the phone); on iPhone and iPad it does not send the device model. The random ID is made by the app when it is installed; it is not a device identifier. No personal content is sent.

On the server the ID is hashed and no IP address is stored. Raw data is deleted after 400 days. It is used only to count active users and improve the app, never for advertising or profiling, and it is never sold or shared.

This is on by default. You can turn it off in Settings ("Share anonymous usage statistics"). Turning it off stops sending immediately and deletes the random ID and any unsent usage events from your phone.

Permissions

The app asks for a permission only when you use the feature that needs it. You can say no and still use the rest of the app.

Your students' information

The app is a tool for running a studio, so you may enter information about other people: your students' names, phone numbers, emails, birthdays, emergency contacts, health-declaration status and health notes, attendance, payments and leads. Used on this phone only, it is stored only on your device, like everything else; we never receive it. In cloud mode it is stored on the Magmanet server on the studio's behalf, so the studio's devices can sync it, and each student sees only their own record. As the studio you are responsible for that information under privacy law (for example, Israel's Privacy Protection Law): collect only what you need, tell students you keep it, and use the app's PIN lock and backups sensibly. Deleting a student in the app deletes their records from the device (and, in cloud mode, from the server at the next sync). Tell your students that their details are kept in the studio's app, and in cloud mode on the app's server.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and publish the new version at the same address.
