Privacy Policy — Clock Owl

Last updated: 2026-10-31

Clock Owl (ינשוף השעון / Le hibou de l'heure) is made by Magmanet. This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: your data stays on your device.

What we collect

We don't collect anything. Clock Owl has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and it collects no usage statistics. We never see, sell or share your data.

Where your data is stored

Progress (stars per level and for "My day", the number of questions answered and answered right the first time) and settings (language, game mode, sound, read-aloud, minute numbers, the "My day" times) are saved only on your device, in the app's private storage. Everything is removed when you uninstall the app.

The app's Copy backup feature (grown-ups area → Your data) copies your data as text to your clipboard, so you can keep it somewhere you choose. Where you paste it is up to you; the app never uploads it.

Read-aloud

Questions and times are read aloud with your device's own text-to-speech voice. The app only sends the text to the voice on the device; it never records or listens to anything and does not use the microphone.

Internet use

Clock Owl works entirely offline. The only time it goes online is the update check. Once a day the app checks for a newer version by asking the Magmanet server (EU, Contabo) — the request contains only the app name, its version number and how it was installed (site/Google Play); the server counts checks per app and version in aggregate, stores no identifiers and no IP address; if the server is unavailable the app downloads the public version file from GitHub Pages instead (GitHub may see your IP address). The check carries no identifiers and nothing about your child or your device. If a newer version exists, the app shows a notice and a grown-up (behind the parent gate) chooses whether to open the download link. You can turn this off in the grown-ups area ("Check for updates automatically").

Sharing

The grown-ups area has a "Tell a friend about the app" button. It opens your device's share menu with a short text and the app's web address; you choose where (if anywhere) it goes. The app sends nothing by itself.

Permissions

Clock Owl's only permission is internet access, used just for the daily update check described above. It requests no location, camera, microphone, contacts, notifications or storage access.

Children

Clock Owl is designed for children. It contains no ads, no in-app purchases, no chat or social features, and it collects no personal information from anyone, including children. The settings, the progress report, the share button and the update link are behind a parent gate (press and hold for 3 seconds); there are no other links out of the app.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and publish the new version at the same address.
