Time Capsule lets you write a letter, add photos, a voice note and predictions, and keep them sealed until a date you choose. Everything it saves stays on your phone.

What the app uses, and where it stays

• What you write and add (letters, predictions, photos, voice notes) is encrypted (AES-256-GCM) and stored only in the app's private storage on your phone. The key is kept in the phone's secure storage (on Android, protected by the Android Keystore). Nothing is sent to us or to anyone else. Android cloud backup and device transfer are off.
• The envelope (the title, the "from" and "to" names, the dates) is stored unencrypted in the app's private storage, so the app can show the list and the countdown.
• Microphone. Used only while you record a voice note, after you tap Record and allow it. The recording is encrypted as soon as you stop.
• Photos. You pick them with the system photo picker. An encrypted copy is kept in the app; nothing is added to your gallery.
• Your name and date of birth, if you enter them, are remembered on the phone to fill in "from" and the birthday choices.
• Notifications. The "ready to open" notification is scheduled locally on your phone. It shows the capsule's title only.

What the lock is, honestly

The date lock is a promise to yourself, not a vault. The app won't show a sealed capsule before its day, but it trusts the phone's clock, and someone who controls the phone could get around it. A sealed file you send to a friend is a soft lock: Time Capsule won't open it early, but the file carries its own key, so don't use it for real secrets.

What leaves the phone

• Anonymous usage statistics (screens used and simple counters, with a random install ID) help us improve the app. They never include letters, photos, voice notes, predictions, names or dates. You can turn them off in Settings.
• The daily update check asks our website whether a newer version exists.
• Files you share. A sealed capsule file or a PDF or photos of an opened capsule go only where you send them, through the system share sheet. They are not sent to us.
• Backup file. The backup is encrypted with a passphrase you choose and goes only where you send it. If you lose the passphrase, nobody can open the backup, including us.

On iPhone, a whole-phone backup can include the app's encrypted files; the key stays on this device only.

Deleting your data

Delete a capsule in the app (its photos and voice notes go with it). Uninstalling the app deletes everything it stored.

Children

The app is not directed at children.

• השם ותאריך הלידה, אם מזינים אותם, נשמרים בטלפון כדי למלא "מאת" ואת אפשרויות יום ההולדת.
• התראות. ההתראה "מוכנה לפתיחה" נקבעת מקומית בטלפון ומציגה רק את כותרת הקפסולה.

מה הנעילה, בכנות

נעילת התאריך היא הבטחה לעצמכם, לא כספת. האפליקציה לא תציג קפסולה סגורה לפני היום שלה, אבל היא סומכת על השעון של הטלפון, ומי ששולט בטלפון יכול לעקוף אותה. קובץ סגור שנשלח לחבר/ה הוא נעילה רכה: קפסולת זמן לא תפתח אותו מוקדם, אבל המפתח נמצא בתוך הקובץ, ולכן אל תשתמשו בו לסודות אמיתיים.

מה יוצא מהטלפון

• סטטיסטיקת שימוש אנונימית (מסכים ומונים פשוטים, עם מזהה התקנה אקראי) עוזרת לנו לשפר את האפליקציה. היא לעולם לא כוללת מכתבים, תמונות, הודעות קוליות, תחזיות, שמות או תאריכים. אפשר לכבות אותה בהגדרות.
• בדיקת העדכון היומית שואלת את האתר שלנו אם יש גרסה חדשה.
• קבצים שמשתפים. קובץ קפסולה סגור, או PDF ותמונות של קפסולה שנפתחה, הולכים רק לאן ששולחים אותם, דרך תפריט השיתוף של המערכת. הם לא נשלחים אלינו.
• קובץ גיבוי. הגיבוי מוצפן בסיסמה שתבחרו והולך רק לאן ששולחים אותו. אם הסיסמה אובדת, אף אחד לא יכול לפתוח את הגיבוי, גם לא אנחנו.

באייפון, גיבוי מלא של הטלפון יכול לכלול את הקבצים המוצפנים של האפליקציה; המפתח נשאר במכשיר הזה בלבד.

מחיקת הנתונים

מוחקים קפסולה בתוך האפליקציה (התמונות וההודעות הקוליות נמחקות איתה). הסרת האפליקציה מוחקת את כל מה שהיא שמרה.

ילדים

האפליקציה לא מיועדת לילדים.
