Privacy Policy — Where Is It (איפה זה)

Where Is It keeps a list of your things and where you put them. Everything it saves stays on your phone.

What the app uses, and where it stays

• What you enter (places, items, tags, quantities, values, notes, who you lent something to) is stored only in the app's private storage on your phone. It is never sent to us or to anyone else.
• Camera / gallery. You take a photo with the camera app or pick one with the system photo picker. A compressed copy is saved only in the app's private folder, without the location or other details the camera wrote into the file. It is not added to your gallery and never uploaded.
• Scanning QR labels. The camera is used only while the scanner is open, after you allow it. Codes are read on the phone, by the operating system's or Google's on-device barcode library, and camera images are not stored or sent by the app. On Android, that library is Google ML Kit, whose own diagnostics may send Google anonymous performance figures. It never sends the images.
• Notifications. Reminders about lent items are scheduled locally on your phone, only if you choose a reminder.

What leaves the phone

• Anonymous usage statistics (screens used and simple counters, with a random install ID) help us improve the app. They never include places, items, values, notes or photos. You can turn them off in Settings.
• The daily update check asks our website whether a newer version exists.
• Sharing. If you share a place's list, a QR label sheet or an insurance list, it goes only to the app you choose.
• Backup file. If you tap "Back up to one file", a zip file with all your items and photos is handed to the app you choose (for example your own cloud drive or email). It is not encrypted, so keep it private. It is not sent to us.

The app turns off Android's automatic cloud backup of its data. On iPhone, your own device backup (iCloud or a computer) may include the app's data, as it does for other apps.

The insurance list

The insurance list is a list you make yourself. It is not proof of ownership or of value, and we make no promise that an insurer will accept it.

Deleting your data

Delete an item or a place to remove it; its photos are removed from the phone the next time the app starts. Restoring a backup replaces what is on the phone. Uninstalling the app deletes everything it stored.

Children

The app is not directed at children.
