Phone Cleanup finds what fills your photo library, and leaves the decision to you.

What it finds:

• Exact duplicates: files identical byte for byte.
• Near-duplicates: for example a copy that was resized, recompressed or sent in a message.
• Bursts: similar photos taken seconds apart.
• Blurry and very dark photos. This check is automatic and can be wrong, so nothing is marked until you choose.
• Screenshots, and your largest videos.

Each group shows the space you would free, and you can compare side by side with linked zoom. The app suggests which photo to keep and says why: highest resolution, sharpest or the oldest copy. Favorites are never marked automatically.

Deleting is in your hands:

• Nothing is deleted automatically. You mark, go through everything on a review screen, and confirm with the number of items and their size.
• By default every group keeps at least one photo. Marking them all takes an extra confirmation.
• On Android 11 and later items go to your phone's trash, and on iPhone to Recently Deleted, where you can restore them for about 30 days. The space is freed when they leave it.
• Android 10 and older have no trash. The app says deletion is permanent and asks you to type the number of items.
• Deleted items may remain in cloud backups. Check there.

Privacy: everything runs on your phone. No uploads and no account. No photo or file name leaves your phone, not even in the anonymous statistics (which you can turn off in Settings). Permission to read your photos is asked only when you start a scan. You can share only some photos, and the app says plainly that the scan sees only those.

Scanning a large library takes time. You can stop and continue, and it picks up where it stopped even if the app was closed. The next scan checks only new photos.
